The Town of Bolton was first settled by settlers from New England in 1792 and was formed as a Town in Washington County from the Town of Athol (now Thurman.) In 1813 Bolton was transferred to the new county of Warren where it is currently part of the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.
